Glenwood Titans senior Kassidy Sheedy scored the game-winning goal just over two minutes into the first of two overtimes against Peoria Notre Dame. She fired a shot over PND goalkeeper Jenna Ashley‘s head and lifted the Titans to a 2-1 win at the IHSA Class 2A Morton Supersectional at Rotary Field Tuesday. The Chatham Glenwood High School girls soccer team will have a shot at defending its Class 2A state title. Glenwood (16-4-2) is two wins from claiming a second consecutive state title. The Titans will play a state semifinal Friday at 1 p.m. against Lake Forest (17-6-1) at North Central College in Naperville.

Washington High School defeated Peoria Notre Dame (16-15) 65-42 to capture the IHSA Class 3A Chillicothe Sectional title at IVC High School Thursday night. Washington was led in scoring by junior Jess Learned with 19 points and senior guard Hayley Reneau with 14. The lady panthers won its first sectional title since 1977. The 5th rated Panthers (26-3) faces #3 Joliet Catholic (26-2) in the Romeoville Supersectional 7 p.m. Monday at Lewis University. Notre Dame was led in scoring by seniors Bridget Bill with 13 points and Matti Bielfeldt added 12 points.

The Peoria Notre Dame Lady Irish (2-3) softball team brought there hitting shoes with them as they defeated Dunlap 14-4 in a non-conference game Monday afternoon at Laura Bradley Park. Sophomore first baseman Chloe Petersen led the Irish offense with three hits and four RBI’s. Mikkinzie Stokes and Annie Fleming combined to limit the Eagles offense to four hits.

Peoria Notre Dame (8-3) never trailed Saturday night and ran all over the Macomb Bombers (9-2) 41-21 in the second round of the IHSA Class 4A playoffs at historic Peoria Stadium. Irish junior running back Aaron Sanders led ND with 121 yards, on 11 carries and sophomore Andy Shadid rushed for three touchdowns. Quarterback Dom Comfort had a TD and 51 of the teams 260 yards on the ground. Macomb was led by senior running back Jarod Rockhold with 163 yards rushing and a 87 yard run for a touchdown. The Irish advance to the third round of the playoffs and square-off against top ranked Rochester (10-1) November 10th at home.

The Morton Potters (17-4-1) easily defeated the Washington Panthers (10-10-1) 8-0 and won the IHSA Class 2A soccer regional championship at McClallen Park. It was a bittersweet day for longtime Potters coach Brian Deters, who coached his last home game at Rotary Field produced victory No. 277 with the girls team. His teams have won 12 regional titles, including three straight, Morton will attempt to claim its first sectional title next week when it plays Geneseo at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Peoria Notre Dame Sectional. Senior Erin Tisdale scored two goals in the first half to lead the Potters in scoring.
