After breaking ground in October 2008, the new 125,000 square-foot terminal officially opened today. The new terminal will be able to service approximately one million passengers annually through 12 gates. Ticket counters, gate areas, baggage claim and rental car desks are all located on one floor in the main concourse. The $65 million General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport came in $2 million under budget. The Foundations and Building General Contractor was Williams Brothers Construction, Inc. Participating in the ribbon cutting of the new terminal were Ray LaHood Secretary of Transportation, Susan Shea Director of Aeronautics, Illinois Department of Transportation, Dick Durbin U.S. Senator of Illinois, Aaron Schock U.S. State Representative as well as Kathryn Downing the widow of General Wayne A. I ventured down to beautiful Bradley Park to capture some game images of the 12 and under PGSL Power softball team. My friend Mark Petersen coaches the Power . They played like they were in mid-season form with a solid defense, timely hitting and strong pitching. They will be playing all over the midwest this summer and will be traveling first class in there new team bus. These young ladies play the game with great passion. I was able to get up close by shooting over the outfield fence with my trusty ladder and Canon 600mm f/4.0 L IS lens.
