The Chatham Glenwood Titans (19-4-2) ended the Morton Potters (19-5-1) postseason run with a 3-0 victory in the IHSA Class 2A Springfield Supersectional. A tightly-contested affair in the midfield, the game was ultimately decided in front of the Morton goal, where the Titans converted three crosses into three unanswered goals and, as a result, the program’s fifth trip to the state finals. The Titan goals were scored by Brendel Marshall, Kayla Torry and Abby Juhlin. Chatham’s senior goal keeper Cara Moody was stellar in between the pipes shutting down Morton. Next up for the Titans is a state semifinal match at 1 p.m. Friday against Normal University High (17-5-1) at North Central College in Naperville.

Superior pitching and sound defense is what fueled the Notre Dame Irish baseball team into the Class 3A Rock Island Super-sectional. The opposite of all that, coupled with base running errors, is what helped cost the Irish a spot in the IHSA Class 3A state baseball finals. Notre Dame (27-7)  committed five errors, walked five batters and hit two more in its 8-3 loss Monday to Maple Park Kaneland (24-10) at Duane Swanson Field located on the Augustana College campus. Senior right hander Doug Cicciarelli suffered his first loss of the season for the Irish.
