Terry McCarl led from green to checker to claim the Monster Energy ™ Sprint Car Series stop at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on a cool Saturday night and winning $ 4,000.00 for his effort. McCarl started outside row one, while pole-sitter and dash winner, Jordan Goldesberry, trailed the veteran early on. By lap five, Jerrod Hull, Austin Johnson and Lynton Jeffrey completed the top five. With seven laps down in the 25-lapper, Kody Kinser came to a stop on the frontstretch, bringing the caution flag. The restart put McCarl out front with some clean air. Jeffrey shot by Johnson for fourth with ten laps in the books, and Smith was on the move from 12th to sixth. Danny Smith earned hard-charger honors for his third place run. “Starting twelfth, this was a good finish,” he said. “I moved the wing way back on the last restart, and we got too tight. The last four laps, I didn’t have anything for the two guys in front of me.” A special thanks to Jeff and Amy Laue for hosting a tremendous night of racing for myself, all of the fans along with the racers and their crew members. See you next year.

Jerrod Hull led from green to checker to capture his fourth career Tom Knowles Memorial win, and his fourth Monster Energy™ Sprint Car Series win of 2011. The victory at Spoon River Speedway near Canton, Illinois on Saturday night paid him $2,000. “We had to stay smooth,” said Hull in Victory Lane standing in front of his Midland Performance #12. “I was a little worried about the tires, so we kept it straight. Crew chief Scott Bonar had the car set up really nice. I also have to thank Jeff Hicks, Colton and Roger for helping us tonight. Canton is one of my favorite places to race. It’s high-banked and I love it.” Ryan Bunton in the #6R car finished second, and Chris Urish #77u was third.
Kyle Larson led all 30 laps on the fast, high-banked 3/8th mile-track with Brad Loyet finishing in second and Chett Gehrke was third in the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series race.

For most of the local racers, competing at Wednesday’s Knox County Fairgrounds was the highlight of their season — racing in front of family and friends just miles from their hometowns. Ben Wagoner started outside the front row for the 20 lap Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders stop at the Knox County Fair, in Knoxville, IL., and led every lap on the way to the victory. Wagoner of Emden won the sprint race main event, beating out Matt Sutton of Macomb and Ryan Jamison of Burlington, Iowa. Jimmy Davies of Oquawka was the area’s top finisher, taking seventh, while Galesburg driver A.J. Fike won his heat in the open-wheeled modified.
