It was a beautiful sunny summer day in the River City and I wanted to get out and take some outdoor photo’s. I met my best friend and fellow photographer Rod McClanahan for lunch and then we  headed over to the Peoria Zoo to capture some images of the animals. It was my first visit to the expanded Africa exhibits and let me tell you it is awesome. The new construction is 1st class and it rivals anything you could find in either Chicago or St. Louis. If you haven’t been there you are missing a real gem in the city, and it is a great way to spend an afternoon with your friends and family.

I spent my Friday evening at the brand new and awesome Bass Pro Shops in East Peoria, IL taking photo’s for Easter Seals. The whole staff under the leadership of store manager Jim Goff at Bass Pro were gracious hosts for the evening. Special guests for the evening were Miss Iowa 2008 Abbey Curran and Redhead Pro staff member Jim Crowley. On display was the custom one of a kind Caterpillar Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW fishing boat that is being raffled off December 15, 2011 to benefit the Kids of Easter Seals. Please be sure to get your tickets early and don’t get left out  as there are only 2,000 available for this awesome fishing boat. There is a 10 day Halloween celebration for children thru October 31st at Bass Pro. Click here for a schedule of all of the Kid’s FREE Halloween Events!

Just finished spending the day photographing an outstanding charity event hosted by the Oak Ridge Sportsman’s Club in Mackinaw, IL. Thirty-one groups of 5 shooter’s battled the wind and sun to help the children of Easter Seals. This was the 9th annual Lyle Finch Memorial Claybird Classic and the event keeps breaking records in the amount of money raised. The tireless and energetic staff and volunteer’s led by Steven R. Thompson President & CEO reported a net amount of $145,000.00 for the event. Everyone that participated in the event was given a complimentary 8″ x 6″ photo of there team with the Lyle Finch Claybird logo included (image posted at bottom of post) in a photo folder at the awards ceremony that evening. A special thank you to my best friend and fellow professional photographer Rod McClanahan of Creative Photography in Pekin, IL for his help in photographing the event with me and making it a HUGE SUCCESS!!!
