Notre Dame (12-7-1) looking to capture their 11th consecutive regional title easily defeated Manual Academy 8-0. The Lady Irish were led in scoring by Mackinsay Manning with three goals, two apiece from Keeghen O’Brien and Elizabeth Mills and one from Elizabeth Frampton. Jenna Ashley and Ruthie Bertram were flawless in goal. Notre Dame will face Richwoods (8-10-1) at 7 p.m. Friday in the IHSA regional championship.

The Metamora Lady Redbirds (29-3, 12-1) scored a unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning without a hit to defeat the Washington Panthers 2-1 in Mid-Illini softball Tuesday afternoon. Junior Erica Phillips threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts, went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in the first inning.

Metamora High School (28-3, 11-1) coasted to a 7-0 victory against Morton High School in Mid-Illini conference softball Thursday afternoon. The lady Redbirds were led by junior Erica Phillips who struck out four, walked two and only allowed a sixth inning single to Brianna Mormann. Phillips also went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Maddie Anglin hit a solo home in the fifth inning for insurance. The normally tight Potters defense committed 4 errors to help Metamora build a early lead, and they were never challanged. We finally got a break in the weather as the sun came out and the rain stopped, so I decided to shoot some softball. It was a game with lots of action and the Morton softball team had there hitting shoes on as they defeated Limestone 9-5 in Mid-Illini action. The Lady Potters banged out four home-runs Thursday afternoon, were paced by catcher Brianna Mormann who slugged two of them. Junior Nicole Koch who pitched in relief was able to cool down the Rockets hitters to pick up the win. Click here to see more photo’s.

The #1 ranked East Peoria Red Raiders (16-1, 6-0) continued there stellar season downing Pekin High School (5-6, 1-5) 9-1 in Mid-Illini prep softball Thursday afternoon. The Raiders were led by senior pitcher Alex Smith who tossed a 14-strikeout, two-hitter against the lady Dragons. East Peoria banged out 12 hits against two Pekin pitchers. Savanna Tapper, Sarah Finck, and Nicole Montgomery banged out two hits each, and the Red Raiders had seven extra base hits.
