Photo’s taken today at Mt. Hawley Country Club of the 3rd annual Tee it up for the Troops golf classic. There several speakers along with military personal and veterans, sky diver delivering the flag to a purple heart recipient,and a special fly over by Jeff Green. Last year, the event raised close to $250,00.00. More than 640 golfers played at three different golf courses. The event co-chairs were Dr. Frank Benningfield and Jeff Kolbus.

Seven-time Peoria City Men’s Golf Champion Rick LeHew moved on step closer to rewriting the record books. Rick will face 23-year-old Dean Kinney in Friday’s semifinals at Newman Golf Course after defeating Brad Cunningham 5-and-4. This will be his 18th time in the semis. He is tied with two Peoria Golfing Legends Ron Ghidina and Gus Moreland with seven titles.

This past Friday was a beautiful sunny day and I was out and about photographing the Bradley University golf teams at Coyote Creek Golf Club in Bartonville, IL. The course is a Bruce Borland Signature Course and is one of finest in the midwest.

On Tuesday afternoon Weaver Ridge hosted the annual Easter Seals Golf Classic. Steve Thompson and all the GREAT people at Easter Seals along with Matt Weaver and his staff made it a fantastic day. Although is was extremely hot and humid over 130 golfers took part in one of the premier events of the summer. Outgoing Easter Seals Chairman of the Board Mark Scott had a very special guest for the event 4 year old Jocelyn McDaniels and her dad Bill. Jocelyn was a real trooper as she visited with the golfers on the course and joined them for dinner and the award ceremonies.

Here are shot’s of First Round action at the 35th anniversary State Farm Classic played at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, IL. After numerous rain delays Cristie Kerr captured the title with a tournament record 22 under par. Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist and South Korea’s Na Yeon Choi finished one shot behind Kerr and tied for second at 21 under par. Kerr is a two-time State Farm Classic winner. First round leader Shanshan Feng finished tied for 4th at 20 under par.
