Ryan Brown put a hold on history while getting a spot in the 87th annual Peoria Men’s City golf tournament. Brown, held off a late rally by seven-time City champion Rick LeHew for a 3-and-2 victory Thursday at Kellogg Golf Course. Brown a Richwoods High School graduate, who played golf at Illinois Central College and McKendree College, lost the first hole before winning the five of the next seven to take a 4-up lead over LeHew after eight holes.

I was out recently at beautiful Metamora Fields golf course to photograph the Bradley University men’s and women’s golf teams as they played a practice round getting ready for their fall tournament schedule.

Photo’s taken today at Mt. Hawley Country Club of the 3rd annual Tee it up for the Troops golf classic. There several speakers along with military personal and veterans, sky diver delivering the flag to a purple heart recipient,and a special fly over by Jeff Green. Last year, the event raised close to $250,00.00. More than 640 golfers played at three different golf courses. The event co-chairs were Dr. Frank Benningfield and Jeff Kolbus.

Seven-time Peoria City Men’s Golf Champion Rick LeHew moved on step closer to rewriting the record books. Rick will face 23-year-old Dean Kinney in Friday’s semifinals at Newman Golf Course after defeating Brad Cunningham 5-and-4. This will be his 18th time in the semis. He is tied with two Peoria Golfing Legends Ron Ghidina and Gus Moreland with seven titles.

This past Friday was a beautiful sunny day and I was out and about photographing the Bradley University golf teams at Coyote Creek Golf Club in Bartonville, IL. The course is a Bruce Borland Signature Course and is one of finest in the midwest.
