Four of Bradley‘s five starters scored in double figures and the Braves (1-0) won their 16th consecutive season-opening home game, 72-65, against Jacksonville State University (0-1) Friday night at Carver Arena in the first round of the Global Sports Invitational. Sophomore guard Omari Grier led all scorers with 17 points in his Bradley debut, while fellow newcomer, junior forward Auston Barnes, added 11. Senior forward Tyshon Pickett chipped in with a double double, 15 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 7-10 from the floor. Though he had an off shooting night, preseason All-MVC guard Walt Lemon Jr. still put together a solid all-around stat line with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Bradley returns to action Sunday at 4 p.m. against Alabama State at Renaissance Coliseum in the second round of the Global Sports Invitational.
