I made up mind earlier today to take camera equipment and head down to Bath, IL population 350. Well when I arrived around 1:00pm the town had tripled in size. Today was the start of the 7th annual Redneck Fishing Tournament on the backwaters of the Illinois River. The event was started by Betty DeFord, manager of the Boat Tavern. There fifty boats entered in the afternoon flight. Each boat pays a $ 50.00 entry fee and is required to have a 2011 fishing license. The men and women dress-up in various outfits and have fun while trying to eradicated the Asian Silver Carp. Hope that you like my snaps of the tournament and if you get the chance to check out the cast of characters.

The Peoria Push Derby Dames packed up there skates and traveled 45 minutes east on I-74 to take on there closest rivals the McLean County Missfits Saturday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. It was a great night of fun and hard hitting roller derby action. When the dust settled the scoreboard read 132-112 in favor of the home town MissFits.

Shot’s from walking around the fairgrounds this past weekend at The 89th annual Marshall-Putnam Fair. It brought back fond memories from when I was youngster. There were numerous things to see including Ag Displays, Antique Farm Equipment, Entertainment, Culinary & Textile Exhibits, Stump Carving, Livestock Judging and much more. I took a few snaps while walking around prior to photographing the America’s Pull Truck & Tractor Champions Tour.

It was a beautiful sunny day in P-town and I wanted to get out and take some outdoor photo’s,  so I loaded up my camera equipment and headed over to the Peoria Zoo. It was my first visit to the expanded Africa exhibits and let me tell you it is awesome. The new construction is 1st class and it rivals anything you could find in either Chicago or St. Louis. If you haven’t been there you are missing a real gem and it is a great way to spend a summer afternoon with the family.
