The Farmington Farmers scored on three long drives to beat arch rival Elmwood/Brimfield 22-12 un the IHSA Class 2A football playoffs. Farmington (10-1) travels to Aledo Mercer County (10-1) next Saturday. The Farmers rushed  the ball 70 times for 373 yards, they were led by senior RB Macae Skaggs and junior Max Balagna. The Trojans running game was paced by junior Layne Wyatt with 127 yards rushing with a 61 touchdown run in the first half.

The Farmington Farmers (15-5, 6-0) defeated the host Brimfield/Elmwood Indians 4-1 Tuesday afternoon in Prairieland Conference action. B/E (16-3, 7-1) went up 1-0 thanks to Morgan Ledbetter’s RBI double. From there, though, the Indians got five hits, while leaving seven runners on base. Farmington pitcher Morgan Florey struck out 11, walked two, retired 10 in a row, and was aided by a flawless defense behind her. Brittany Danley (2-for-4) provided some runner support with a fourth-inning RBI.

The Elmwood/Brimfield Trojans (6-0, 4-0) clinched at least a share of the Prairieland Blue Division football conference and secured another IHSA Class 3A playoff berth with a 20-7 victory over Farmington (5-1, 3-1) Friday night. Brady Westart rushed for 135 yards in the game, scoring all three of his teams touchdowns. Jason Harkness had 113 yards rushing in the game for the Trojans. Farmington’s only score of the game came on the second half kick-off for a touchdown by junior Noah Welker for 82 yards.
