I spent the morning photographing some of the beautiful children at Crittenton Centers. Here are a few of the faces that this 118 year old agency protect and nurture. The center is under the excellent leadership of Executive Director Cindy Fischer and her great staff and loyal volunteers. Last year the Crisis Nursery provided 30,605 hours of crisis care to children in our community. Within the Crittenton site, you will find information about the Crisis Nursery, Child Development Center, and Family services programs. You will also find out how to contribute to the agency, either with your time or donations.
Each year close to three million cases of child abuse are reported, according to Prevent Child Abuse Illinois. In honor of April being Child Abuse Prevention Month, Crittenton Centers held their 3rd Annual “Pinwheels for Prevention“ pinwheel garden Friday morning. The Pinwheels are a symbol of change to individuals’ attitudes about abuse prevention.
Cindy Fischer, Executive Director at Crittenton Centers says, “Our hopes are and we are working in collaboration with Center For Prevention and Abuse and the Pediatric resource center of really educating people in terms of what to look for in regards to possible abuse or neglect for a child. The Center is hosting their Parent Night Tuesday April 12 and Parenting Breakfast Break Wednesday April 20th.
